Bongani Magatyana is a renowned South African composer, musician, and choral director from Cape Town. Known for his vibrant choral compositions and musical storytelling, he blends traditional Xhosa music with contemporary elements. Magatyana is celebrated for his work in opera, theatre, and community-based music education initiatives.

Bongani spent a week with singers from the US, Canada, and the Netherlands, teaching and rehearsing traditional South African folk music.

This concert is a collaboration between the Cape Town Camerata (CTC) and those singers. The Magatyana Singers will present the music they have been working during their weeklong rehearsal camp and CTC will present a programme focusing on traditional South African arrangements as well as African American Spirituals.

The concert will also be live-streamed and tickets to access the live-stream can be bought on this page. The link to the stream will be emailed to the ticket holders three days before the event.
